When I start my show whether manually or with a programmed sync signal the projectors don't start immediately but cycle a projector then start.

  • Did you set both of your projector trays on number one?  If you start with your trays on zero there aren't any slides loaded into your projectors' gates, and your projectors have to complete one cycle to load your first slides. Always start your trays on #1 and set your projectors' lamps to the fan position.

I set my show up in a hotel meeting room and I couldn't get it to work correctly all the time. I guess you could describe the operation as erratic!

  • Make sure all your equipment is plugged into one power source, the best way to do this is to use a power strip. This is covered on page 10 of the Gemini 2000's Owner's Manual. What happens in hotels and large buildings is the power may come from different power sources and these can have variations that can affect your system.

When I start my show only 1 projector lights up!

  • As simple as it seems many times this is because the lamp in the projector has burned out. Always check your projectors manually before your show, just turn each of your projectors on seperately to make sure the lamp is functioning correctly.

What is Sync-Lock

  • Gemini's Sync-Lock™ keeps your slides and taped program in perfect synchronization from the moment you begin programming. If you miss a cue, simply back-up your tape to before your error and continue programming. Gemini will automatically advance or reverse your slides to their proper positions for you.

Can I use my home stereo or boom box to program the Gemini 2000?

  • YES! You can use any stereo tape recorder to synchronize-program your show. The Gemini 2000's Sync-Lock™ creates a discrete electronic signal that eliminates the worry of sync signal and music channels bleeding together. You will only have monaural sound and you have to record your music and effects at the same time but for less complex shows this works very well. What you do is record your music or narration on one channel and your Gemini Sync-Lock™ signal on the other channel. On the market are a number of AV tape recorders and tape recorder/mixers used by amateur musicians available that give you multiple tracks. These units will allow you to record your music and narration and then program/record your slide show effects that will give you greater creative control of the entire process. A simple stereo tape recorder will do the job fine and get you started quickly; matter of fact this is the preferred method by a number of internationally known photographers as they travel around the world giving lectures.

I am trying to program the Gemini 2000 but when I play the tape back, nothing happens!

If this occurs there a couple of simple items to check:

  • Use only one audio cable between the Gemini and your tape recorder.

  • Make sure that when you are recording the signal from the Gemini to your tape recorder you have connected the audio cable from sync-out on the Gemini to the audio-in on your tape recorder.

  • On play back be sure to reverse the audio cable so you are coming from audio-out on your tape recorder to the sync-in on the Gemini

My power supply is missing. Can I buy a replacement at the local electronics store?

  • No, the power supplies available locally will be to convert 120 volt AC power to a lower voltage DC power. Gemini's power supply lowers 120 volt AC power to an output of 9 volts AC and 1000 watts. Your Gemini dealer should be able to provide you with a replacement or you can contact Gemini Electronics.

After my show ended and my trays returned to home the projectors started to run randomly! The tape recorder was still running, is this from tape noise or what?

  • You probably recorded your show over a tape you had previously used for a different show or had music on. It is best to use a new blank tape for a show or with the use of a bulk tape eraser you can make a blank tape. Bulk tape erasers can be purchased for a few dollars at stores such as Radio Shack.
